With the wet season missing in action a week ago, we, like many graziers were doing a lot of cloud gazing. I was able to capture these mares’ tails form the top rail of the cattle yards last Sunday. It was a good sign….
On Thursday morning we woke to measure 137mm of beautiful, gentle rain. Ex Cyclone Oswald had begun to track south and drag the monsoon trough along. The kids, both old and young like nothing better than going for a “creek” check.
Yesterday evening the rain got heavier and the wind got stronger and we woke to measure another 274mm this morning. Creeks have been very high, breaking their banks in many places.
Lots of flood fence repairs in the coming weeks….I’m thinking after school activities for the boys.
In the mean time, Rob has his teeth into the wet weather job list.
That is after he milks the house cow so that we can continue to enjoy all these homemade goodies.
