Sometimes I worry that we don’t do enough with our kids. By that I mean, we haven’t been participating in the regular Saturday morning children’s sport bonanza. Actually, most of our Saturday mornings lately have consisted of cross branding cows, mustering and rotating cattle into fresh paddocks. Generally thrown in with a bit of housework, the big boys do some baking and if they are lucky, Dad might have some fence lines to check or lantana to spray. (Have I ever mentioned lantana before…)
The last month we have had an abundance of fun things interspersed between all that hard work.
Andrew attended the ICPA Sports Camp. A wonderful, wonderful week of intensive skills development in sports such as cricket, olympic handball, netball, softball, rugby league, tennis, rugby union and football. Andrew really came out of his shell on camp (The 115 kids aged 9 to 12 may have helped this?!).
This week we participated in our School Cluster. For the big boys, it was a chance to mix with their classmates and participate in some Art-rageous group activities. All the things that Mum isn’t too good at providing at home….Things like painting with different medium, drama games (our drama at home is too often me raising my voice?!?) and Dance.
And for the little people, we were able to conduct a playgroup type session…
Complete with dress ups, paint, craft, singing, sharing stories, bubbles and dance.
As Hamish prepares to enrol in Prep next year, it was good for him to interact with Mr Chief Bielenberg and get to know a little about the CSDE tribe over the costume box!!
Eliza is starting to wonder about what shenanigans she and I will be up to next week as we head to Goondiwindi for the Qld State ICPA conference.
Deprived? I think not. Who needs to drive 180km for Saturday sport when there is a race full of cattle to run up and down and a calendar that is chock-a-block full.
