While a sleep in sounds like the sensible thing to do on Christmas day, it certainly didn’t occur in our household. I didn’t hear Santa or the reindeers drop in but it must have been before midnight as rummaging of paper in the dark followed by an excited little boy by our bedside to tell of his haul woke us from our slumber. The household then slept until just after five when I was again woken to chatter amongst Andrew and Tess about the virtues of digital microscopes…..
Once a few are awake in the household the present opening began in earnest.
There were new toys for Mummy to photograph with new cameras….

alongside remote control ones which seems to be tickling this boys fancy.

Of course Christmas isn’t complete without lego to add to the collection.
We had toys to play with by yourself and when you’re Eliza’s age it didn’t matter if it was the paper, the ribbon, the box or your brother’s. It was all plain exciting!

Time was spent chatting to friends and relatives to share the Christmas joy while others spent time demonstrating how to crawl properly…

but Eliza isn’t a willing or attentive student and is quite fast and satisfied with her current gait.

Tess whipped up some mozzarella  cheese to accompany our pre lunch drinks. The tomato (homegrown), the basil (homegrown) and the cheese (from milk taken from the house cow) combined nicely to add some festive colour to our table.

Lunch was a casual affair. Some of us didn’t eat an entirely balanced meal. The lure of Lindt chocolates on the table was far too great……who knows how many were consumed but being Christmas none of us were counting!

In true Christmas tradition, after lunch we took to relaxing.

Some of us succeeded in doing this in peace and quiet….
while others kept those younger ones entertained!!

As the sunset on 2012 Christmas and the early risers slept soundly, Rob & I stayed up playing with our new gadgets.

On Boxing Day we embarked on our whirlwind Christmas visit to the Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles and Cousins. A total of 1400km in 52 hours, at two different locations in a car and a truck.
That will be another story…..

    New cameras?
    Who’s a lucky girl !?!
And the cryovac machine … you’ll wonder how you ever lived without it.

I’m told tonight Fiona, that the cryovac machine was inspired by a visit to your husband!

Perhaps there’s room for some conspiracy here Ainsley. Should I drop a hint to my husband about diamonds or pearls next time?

what a great day, love Eliza’s method of travel (and how much is that child looking like her mother!) so pleased you got your new camera, what did you end up getting?

am also wondering if the “food saver” is something that we should not be living without as well 😉
