Another afternoon, another mob of cattle.
Both the kids and the cows are pretty familiar with the routine once school is out …..
This afternoon I wasn’t needed on a horse, made redundant I guess by my three year old daughter.
I couldn’t stay inside though and followed along on foot to watch the antics.
The boys had controlled the mob of cows, riding in the lead and keeping the wing in while Rob led Eliza from the Ranger and kept the tail poking along.
Lachlan had cantered ahead and opened the gate. Once the last cow had filtered through into the paddock, the mischief began.
These two were quick to abandon Dad with the gate to close and headed for home.
Rather than ride back to the saddling yard, they thought it quicker to unsaddle at the horse paddock gate.
They didn’t know their mother was watching with a lens, their dismounting antics.
I was impressed though to see the genuine care and appreciation they showed their ponies as they let them go.
They then pretended to rest in the soft grass while waiting for Dad and Eliza.
How ever Eliza wasn’t so keen for the ride to end , so Dad had to reassure her that there was more riding to be done tomorrow and Holly needed to rest up too.
