An icy start yesterday morning for Rob & four keen Junior Beef participants as they set off for Rocky before daylight. Obviously not as cold or frosty as our counterparts further west or south but it’s all relative! Temperatures had plummeted from our balmy 15 degree mornings we had become accustomed to.
I haven’t relented on the early morning running program although I’m having to muster lots of willpower to get started …..
Eliza and I are tending to the animals and catching up on a little end of financial year business for a few days while Rob oversees the beef show shenanigans. It’s certainly quiet with four little ones away. The dishwasher and washing machine are in shock and after cooking risotto for eight last night, it seems I have plenty of leftovers ….
Even the oven has been idle meaning I can tend to that ghastly job of cleaning it!
The change in season has also heralded our inaugural molasses run. Protein in the grass has dropped below a threshold and so weaners are now offered some extra goodies to encourage extra performance and continued growth. We’re fortunate to have no shortage of grass at the moment for which we are grateful.
Pumpkins are bountiful on the vines …. seems we’ll have plenty of pumpkin soup, scones and fruit cake in the months ahead.
There really is bounty in every season!
