The past week:
Perfect weather, cool and crisp mornings followed by glorious days of sunshine remind us of the change in season.
Whirlwind trip to Townsville courtesy of Grandad’s aeroplane, brief but fun night at Grandma & Grandad’s. After all, it is school holidays!
Celebrated 2 birthdays in the household. One milestone was a little more eagerly anticipated than the other..
Easter has reminded us of the busy time we’ve had since New Year and has been a time to review and renew. End of Quarter, end of Term One, end of Summer…
And then we went visiting….and red clawing..playing games…imaginations run wild. A beautiful, quaint cubby becomes a ship traversing wild seas. That was only Easter Saturday!
A repeat of our trial run earlier in the year, we hustled the family to church only to find that we were an hour and half too early. Note to self: CHURCH STARTS at 10!! Not sure that I will get this confused again….
Adelaide humming to the tune of a hymn as the less “in tune” mumble the words, finding the notes too high and just out of reach. The peace greeting when you are able to touch and speak to the whole congregation. Eliza being blessed by the minister and on cue looking up and smiling, winning the hearts of all. These are the simple things.
Easter Sunday spent by a creek, tranquil, peaceful, simple. The kids splashing, exploring, one “accidentally” gets wet which follows in a shedding of clothes to find the little people cooling off in their makeshift swimwear. A fire, a home made plate with sizzling sausages and plenty of insect repellent, the boys and their fishing lines. The older kids being part of the game, interacting and entertaining the little people. The inclusion of all ages. Grandparents, mothers and fathers, teenagers, children, toddlers and babies, enjoying each other’s company.
Rocky Road, Caramel Slice, some Rum for those of us who don’t like sweets.
And then to be able to eat leftovers for dinner.
Along with toasted marshmallows on the fire,
the Easter Eggs really were second fiddle today.
And with Tess arriving home late in the afternoon, our family is whole and complete for one week.
Life is good…..and simple really!
