This week we’ve had some blue sky
interspersed with ominous looking layers of cloud
that meant raincoats had to be donned and
mudboots dusted off and decobwebbed…
because rain, hail or shine it is the last week of school holidays and Dad needs to get the mustering finished!
And as the holidays draw to a close,  I wonder how I’m going to settle back into the school day routine.
I think a couple of the little men and a little cowgirl are about ready to head back into the schoolroom (or perhaps they just want to get on with the job and stop having to smile for a photo….)

when I was a kid it was the same thing – all mustering was saved for the school holidays (and mum shuddered when we came home from branding “not hungry” with tell tale signs grease and black crunchy bits around the mouth…the thought makes me queasy now!) I am a bit sad that our own circumstances now don’t allow for the same.
