The days have been zooming past lately. People coming and going, meetings, school, fencing, mustering, buying cattle, selling cattle, processing cattle, cooking, washing, cleaning, office work and the list goes on.
Sometimes I take for granted how helpful these little people are. They’ve put in some big days lately, chasing cattle up the race down at the yards, doing their chores and of course this has been in between playing, wrestling and being mischievious.
As they grow older, I love how teamwork and comradeship starts to build. They are Rob’s little mates.
Everyone has their job at the yards, whether it is loading the ear tags in the applicator, filling the race with cattle or rocking Eliza’s pram. Sometimes though, the lure of being a kid becomes too much and the dirt beckons..
This brings me to the magic of being a child.
The tooth fairy seems to struggle with our address..sometimes the weather is bad and she experiences a flight delay. On other occasions she gets overtaken by Santa Claus and has to postpone her visit to Boxing Day. Sometimes she forgets to take the tooth after delivering the money and other times there is no apparent reason for her non arrival…
The magic is real here though, and even when Mum accidentally tips the cup of water containing the little tooth out, we can guarantee some money will be left on the bed head..
No matter how busy we are, and how quickly the kids grow, I do treasure the magic of just being a kid..
