Yesterday started out as a normal school day.
Following smoko, Hamish did his routine check of Mumma Pig’s water trough. Imagine the squeals of excitement when he discovered two piglets had entered the world!
School was momentarily abandoned as the obstetric and paediatric teams took their places.
So many life lessons for this crew with 11 piglets born of which 3 were born dead.

Today the kids  have a beaten path to Mumma pig’s pen. The piglets are being well nurtured and cared for.

Don’t ask me to recite their names but it goes something like Lucy, W, Bacon, Ham, Number 7 and Chop. I can’t recall the rest……
I can see hours of free entertainment in the weeks ahead!

What a good mother. When our first sow farrowed, she tried to eat the piglets and then us. A dash to the vet to get something to calm her down worked and she awoke a changed sow. She went on to rear over a hundred piglets.
Your photos bring back lots of happy memories of children spending time with piglets.
