Ever felt like you’re being watched?
This magnificent bird seems to know exactly when to arrive at the gate.
Each time I open the veggie patch gate, old mate Kookaburra swoops down from the mango tree and perches on the pitchfork handle.
He is certainly not shy. I captured this photo with my iPhone when he was within 30 cm of the lens. He even turned his head a couple of different ways as I snapped away. I hope he feels like I got his best angle!
He’s more than happy to follow me around while snacking on earthworms. If the afternoon is young, and I have a bout on the lawn mower, he is right by my side, preying on anything insects or frogs that I might disturb.
Plenty of summer show in the garden at the moment.
Poincianas are loaded with blossom, just think of all those seed pods I’ll be picking up next Winter!

Frangipani is also showing off.
I’ll be even happier when the Moch Orange starts indicating rain is on its way. It’s had a couple of flowers on board for a few weeks but very half hearted.

I love friendly birds, we had a willy wag tail in residence for awhile (even to the point of coming into the kitchen every morning. Did a good job on the spiders!) and bower birds are always around being cheeky. As I type I hear the parrots scoping out the mango tree, there will be a battle royale very soon as the fruit is light on this year.

    Love a flowering Poinciana too.
