I love early mornings, it’s my favourite time to exercise. It’s equally as good for body and soul.
While many have great playlists to run along to, I find the peace and quiet a welcome change.
In the last few weeks, I’ve had to relinquish some of that serenity for a little chitter chatter! Of course it’s quite one sided as I huff and puff and my little companion effortlessly runs beside me …..
……. or sometimes leaves me behind.
Rob has set some running goals for 2015 as well. While I tinker very close to my 5km in 30 minute target, he has set the bar a bit higher.
To add a little variety to the exercise routine, I’ve recently completed a 50 day program with Joy McClymont from Off the Track Training.
Following Joy’s program helped me spice the exercise routine right up, with both intensity and variety. The kids have embraced core twists, push up challenges, squats and Adelaide woke early for a 30 minute Yoga session this morning. (Did you know there was an App for that!)
I have now earmarked logs for modified pull ups, stumps for steps ups and rails for incline push ups.
The 50 day program offered nutritional advice from Stacey Curcio at Gladstone Holistic Health.
It was nice to validate the bacon in my salad!
I spend a lot of my life arguing with a little voice in my head who is terribly critical of my efforts and can sometimes sabotage my motivation.
Joy had an answer for that voice and introduced the 50 day participants to Dr Lisa Patterson-Kane from the Get Happy App.
While these things are always a work in progress, it’s good to take control of that ‘noise’.
The rewards of keeping fit are many and I am grateful everyday for the good health that our family enjoys.
I genuinely hope each day we run, swim, ride, jump, lift or master a yoga pose, that Rob and I set an example for our little cherubs.
Regardless of their sporting competitiveness, I want them to know that regular exercise…
… and wholesome nutrition will reward them with energy and good health.
And I can’t think of a better way to teach them, than lead by example.
