Supervising painting as a school activity is not my favourite pastime – I struggle with managing little hands, water, stray paint brushes and the inevitable wash down.
When Lachlan’s Year 1 Community project suggested that he paint a 9 piece quilt, I shuddered. And then passed the baton to our delightful Emily, who is offsiding with me for a few weeks.

Lachlan considers himself a bit of an artist and thoroughly enjoyed a right brained counterpart.

Adelaide was also inspired to create her own masterpiece.

Hamish thought his painting efforts would be more worthwhile on the kitchen ceiling…..

But then decided he needed a colour injection…..

Poor Andrew didn’t have any painting scheduled……
And the wash down, with me removed, was not nearly as traumatic!!

I’m afraid I was always the Mum who wouldn’t do painting, play-dough, or any other creative pursuit! Hooray for Emily!

I’m on the same page as you two…my kids LOVE getting crafty and although all things glitter are banned, they do paint and draw and glue under the proviso they clean up after themselves…which means I have to yell and they have to scurry around lest mum chucks the whole darn lot in the wheelie bin!
