Summarised in a list …..
1. The grass grew and grew and grew. How lucky we have been this season, to receive rain on cue.
2. Andrew enjoyed a week-end home from boarding school and quickly became part of the mustering team again. We pulled out the gumboots to prepare steers for sale.
3. We froze the last of this year’s mango crop and then proceeded to eat frozen whipped mango for smoko. And when we tired of mango ice-cream we had pikelets. These were extra special ones as Rob whipped them up for us on Shrove Tuesday, while the kids and I were doing school.

4. Andrew’s week-end home coincided with Valentine’s day. He spent his pocket money on a single red rose for me and a box of chocolates for his Dad. I thought that deserved an extra special, sickly sweet cake for smoko. The kids all approved.
5. We turned over a new garden bed in the veggie patch. We’re quite successful at growing weeds along with our veggies so it was all hands on deck.
6. Tropical Cyclone Marcia brewed nearby and threatened to cross the coast very near to us. We learnt a lot of lessons in preparedness and were extremely blessed to have dodged a bullet. Our power and communication channels were interrupted for a period of time and we now have a great appreciation of the things we easily take for granted.
7. The light pre and post cyclone was amazing. I guess this is what you call nature’s beauty.
And that is February in snapshots …..
