This year we made a decision to stay home for the Summer Holidays (festive season) and embrace the great things in our own backyard. Sort of like a “holiday” at home.

We cherished the summer storms over Christmas which delivered just short of 5 inches. (For any avid weather watchers reading this, that brings our 2011 total to 1112mm which is just over the long term average).

The sun has been shining in between which means the lawn is growing so Andrew has been busy!

We’ve also taken advantage of the sunshine to do a little bit of work – not too much though as it “our Summer Holiday”!
And some of that work means you learn new skills….and Dad only has time to repair the milker yard over Christmas!

We’ve been enjoying candlelit dinners (naturally citronella!) on the verandah which is adorned by fairy lights.

The crabbing has been fruitful and we’ve loved eating them – Chilli Crab Mumbai, Fresh Crab Sandwiches with mango & avocado……

Bliss………..I love summer!

Ainsley, I’ve just ‘discovered’ you. Time at the computer has taken a backseat for me over this special time. Don’t you love how jobs continue, but don’t seem anywhere near as serious if completed in a pair of shorts. I’ve had tears in my eyes looking at your beautiful family. Wishing you all much happiness during this time and for 2012. I’ll be back regularly to peer in on your special little ones (and big one).
