What a Winter! We have experienced very unseasonal but welcome rain the past 3 months with 64mm measured this week, following 91mm for June and 73mm recorded in May.
Our 12 month running rainfall is now in excess of 1200mm….
The grass is looking amazing, this paddock was grazed 18 days ago…..we wouldn’t normally expect growth of this nature at this time of year.
With the blue sky poking out from between the clouds today, we took the opportunity to shift the weaners into a new, fresh paddock.
The amount of water running through the paddocks is amazing…so February like!
The days and nights are balmy too, lots of humidity and a crop of insects have hatched…
The next cold snap will certainly come as a shock..
With gullies and creeks running quite strongly, the chief stockman was looking skyward at the black clouds gathering…
The weaners didn’t seem to mind the move or the water, they knew that fresh pasture was ahead.
And a gravel road to walk on is nice and hard underfoot…
Hard to believe that 500 head of cattle are grazing here….
The only thing that IS typical of winter at present is the lingering flu that seems to have invaded and infiltrated amongst the McArthur clan…
Our afternoon adventure on horseback was just the cure for all family members, some fresh air and a glimmer of sunshine!
After a full week of school, this cowboy jumped at the chance to give his pony a ride..
And these two girls were glad to escape the wet weather jobs around the house…
Now if only we can all escape the bugs in our house……be gone Winter flu, be gone!!!
